Choosing the right necklace length helps frame your face and sit perfectly with your neckline. Use the guide below to find the length that suits you best.
To find your ideal choker length, measure tightly around the base of your neck with a soft measuring tape.
Add about 1–2 cm (½"–¾") to this number for comfort. This final measurement will be the choker size that fits closely without feeling restrictive.
| Necklace Length | Position on the Body |
|---|---|
| 14"–15" (35–38 cm) | Choker – closely around the base of the neck |
| 16" (40 cm) | Just below the throat at the collarbone |
| 18" (45 cm) | On the collarbone; most common everyday length |
| 20" (50 cm) | Just below the collarbone, above the bust |
| 22"–24" (55–60 cm) | Falls at or just above the bust |
| 30"+ (76+ cm) | Opera / long pendant length |
Use these measurements as a starting point and adjust up or down depending on your height, body proportions and the neckline of the outfit you plan to wear.
| Height | Typical Necklace Length |
|---|---|
| Under 5'2" (157 cm) | 16"–18" (40–45 cm) |
| 5'2"–5'6" (157–168 cm) | 18"–20" (45–50 cm) |
| Over 5'6" (168 cm) | 20"–24" (50–60 cm) |
For pendant necklaces, include the chain only; the pendant will typically hang slightly below the measured length.
